Summer Has Passed, Autumn is coming

The last weekend of summer in London is marked by the Bank Holiday weekend. When Notting Hill Carnival is over and the big clean-up in RBKC is over, it's time to look forward to the new school year. This in turn predicates the return to serious business in The City of London, as the traders and the bankers return from their summer retreats and holidays. The machine that is London, starts to grind its gears back into action.

Cab drivers also set themselves up for a busy return to cabbying and carrying all those that require their services.

What's new and on the horizon? Probably the most significant issue is the pedestrianisation of Oxford Street W1. In a comprehensive and controversial move, the Mayor of London has set in motion plans to pedestrianize Oxford Street. What will it look like? How will it affect transport issues and the needs of Londoners and its visitors? Complete exclusion of taxis and buses is on the cards, the exclusion of cars has been theoretical for decades, but now it's all out exclusion. Traders and residents groups are up in arms at the prospect. Dummy runs were held in previous attempts to trial the impact, but we wont truly know the impact until it happens. That may well be a bit too late. Amongst taxi drivers, there are many averse to what looks like a poorly thought out decision.

So many different schemes have been pushed through in a shoddy and non transparent fashion in the past from Tottenham Court Road, to bike lanes and also in the City, like Bishopsgate and Bank Junction.

We at Back Cab Show intend to bring to the for more detail in an attempt to highlight what we can all expect
